LEGO Stress Test Machine by Philippe Cantin

The question is simple and many of us ask it regularly without really knowing the answer: After how many assemblies / separations does a LEGO brick made of ABS plastic lose its nesting capacity (Clutch Power in English) ?

Philippe Cantin is a perseverant, and he decided to provide an early answer to this thorny question asked about bricks.stackexchange.com by creating a stand-alone test bench to test the primary function of LEGO bricks.
The experiment is interesting, even if on a purely scientific and statistical level it would have to be repeated several times to establish a more reliable average.

The test result was obtained after 10 days of continuous testing with 37112 assemblies / separations before the bricks lost their original interlocking properties.

More information about this interesting experiment on Philippe Cantin's blog.

Below, the video presentation of the test bench. Other videos of the experience are available on Philippe Cantin's YouTube channel.
