LEGO DC Comics 77906 Wonder Woman

It's in season and the cancellation of various conventions and physical events such as Star Wars Celebration 2020 or San Diego Comic Con will not prevent LEGO from selling some exclusive products: today we are discovering the visual of the small LEGO DC set. Comics 77906 Wonder Woman which was undoubtedly to be sold on the manufacturer's booth during SDCC 2020.

The box of 255 pieces takes the format of the exclusive sets put on sale in 2018 and in 2019 on the occasion of the San Diego Comic con and it pays homage to the first appearance of the character Cheetah by reproducing the cover of the comic Wonder Woman # 6 published in 1943. The Wonder Woman and Cheetah minifigs are those available in the DC comics bag series (ref. Lego 71026).

We do not yet know how and where this small set will be sold, but it's a safe bet that Europe will be excluded from the planned plan: the box is visible on the visual below uploaded on the page of DC Fandome 2020 virtual convention which links to the US version of the official LEGO online store.

Update : the set is only sold on the US version of the Shop at this address. The public price is set at $ 39.99, availability announced for October 1, 2020. It is also available at the same price at Walmart, you can do it yourself reship via Shipito.

Unsurprisingly, the set is missing from the French version of the page dedicated to the event :

LEGO's statement in response to those who felt that the DC Fandome virtual convention was global and that the set therefore deserved to be distributed elsewhere than in the USA:

It turns out this set was originally going to be the 2020 San Diego Comic Con exclusive. Since that SDCC was canceled they found this weekends event provided a relevant opportunity to release the set.

While the new virtual DC event was global, the product was not produced to be global and will therefore only be available to be in the US.

There was consideration that this appeared to be a regional exclusive set but it is actually an event item. The set is also being sold on Walmart.com but this appears to be US shipping limitation as well.

DC Fandome 2020 - Supergirl Exclusive Minifigure

Friends collectors of exclusive minifigs, here is the next DC Comics fiigurine that you will have to try to get at a reasonable price on eBay and others: This is Supergirl, a minifig that will be offered by lottery starting August 22 via an online competition organized on the occasion of the virtual event DC Fandom which takes place this weekend.

According to the regulations found at this address, this contest is reserved for residents of the USA and 1495 copies of the minifigure will be offered between August 22 and 23. The contest participation interface will be accessible online at this address the August 22.

It cannot be ruled out that LEGO will for its part put a few copies into play via social networks, but in any case we will have to turn to the secondary market to hope to obtain one ...

76160 Batman: Mobile Bat-Base

Today we are quickly interested in the LEGO DC Comics set 76160 Batman: Mobile Bat-Base (743 pieces - 89.99 €), a box which went a little unnoticed when it was launched last June and which was quickly eclipsed by the flood of product announcements "Lifestyle"currently marketed by LEGO.

I think we have here one of the best LEGO playsets available in the DC Comics universe, provided we admit that Batman can have a headquarters installed in the trailer of a large truck. The idea is not as crazy as it seems: in 2015 we discovered a Bat-Truck over the pages of number # 42 of the comic All New Batman, even if the LEGO version does not have the organic design of the object in question.

There are no longer Bat-vehicles in the LEGO DC Comics range with many remakes, re-editions and reinterpretations of the great classics. In my opinion, the arrival of a truck gives a fresh blow to this universe invaded by Batmobiles, Batcycles and other Batwings, with a vehicle which also manages to stay in the "bat" spirit thanks to a few details aesthetics well felt.

All New Batman # 42 (2015)

The big advantage of this playset: All of the content provided fits in the truck with plenty of storage spaces rather well thought out. Taken individually, the secondary vehicles delivered in this box do not seem particularly inspired and would only deserve a priori to end up in a small polybag without much interest.

But their integration into the playset enhances them and allows to add a good layer of playability while offering a storage solution when it comes for example to take the truck to a friend: the motorcycle slips into the rear axle , the jet-ski finds its place under the tractor cabin and the quad is hooked under the Batjet via a clip which allows it to remain fixed until its deployment.

The jet ski is even ejected via a rod that goes through the floor of the tractor and you just have to push for the machine to be expelled. For its part, the Batjet has a landing zone at the front of the trailer and once in place it helps to round off the angular shapes of the vehicle a little.

I often criticize designers for the aesthetic shortcuts used for certain sets, here I have the impression that a very great effort has been made to offer a vehicle with a very correct finish while remaining functional.

76160 Batman: Mobile Bat-Base

76160 Batman: Mobile Bat-Base

The least successful machine is perhaps precisely this Batjet which has nothing of Bat and which does not really look like a jet, but a compromise had to be found to have a spaceship that could land on the trailer without disfiguring the truck and adding retractable fins saves the furniture.

The mobile base has an interior space with basic but convincing layout. There is even at the end of the trailer a cell from which the occupant can escape via the mobile panel placed at the rear. The feature will undoubtedly seem anecdotal to many fans but it widens the playful possibilities.

The rest of this compact Batcave on wheels consists of a desk with its control screen and a few accessories, all of which is easily accessible by lifting the mobile part of the body which remains attached to the trailer via a simple hinge based on it. 'Technic elements.

The Batjet canopy and the truck's windshield are currently exclusive parts to this box in this color Trans Yellow and I salute the effort to offer us these elements, moreover rather common in transparent versions, in a color which allows to obtain a vehicle that aesthetically sticks to the universe of the vigilante of Gotham.

The inevitable sheet of stickers is provided here, including a slew of bat-logos to stick everywhere so that the owner of the different vehicles is clearly identifiable. Black on black, it works, there is no risk of color difference.

76160 Batman: Mobile Bat-Base

If we can regret a certain imbalance in the endowment of vehicles in this box which only equips Batman and his acolytes, the assortment of minifigs is relatively balanced with three heroes and three villains. All these characters are not unseen, but the set will seduce collectors with some very original minifigs.

Batman's torso and head are items seen in many sets released in 2019 and in the set. 76159 Joker's Trike Chase marketed this year. The head of this minifig has also become the barometer of the evolution of pad printing techniques at LEGO and we can see here that the character's face is a little less pale than in other older boxes but that the problem is not. is still not resolved ...

Batgirl minifig, delivered here in version Rebirth, is almost perfect. She just needs boots to match the rest of the costume to be completely successful. The effort has been made on all elements, including double-sided cape with blue interior and black exterior surface, to give us a pretty minifigure but the legs remain hopelessly neutral. The character's hair is not new, it is that of Black Widow (Marvel), Lois Lane (Superman) or Mera (Aquaman).

The Nightwing minifigure, also in version Rebirth, also suffers from the lack of detail on the legs. It's a shame, the torso is really very successful. The hair is also that of Harry Potter, Cole (Ninjago) and Mike Wheeler (Stranger Things).

The minifig of Mr. Freeze is not new, it is the one seen in the set 76118 Mr. Freeze Batcycle Battle (2018) and in a bag offered with an issue of the LEGO Batman magazine released in 2020.

76160 Batman: Mobile Bat-Base

76160 Batman: Mobile Bat-Base

This is not the first appearance of Man-Bat at LEGO, the version New 52 was delivered in the set 76011 Man-Bat Attack in 2014 then in the set 70905 The Batmobile based on the animated film The LEGO Batman Movie in 2017.

LEGO offers us here a version Rebirth new with a superb torso and the element to be placed on the head already seen in brown on the previous version of the character is here delivered in white with a nice pad printing in the hollow of the ears.

The legs used for this new minifigure are however not new, they are those used for two of the minifigs of the Hidden Side set. 70423 Paranormal Intercept Bus 3000 (2019) and more recently for the driver of the vehicle in the promotional set 40409 Hot Rod.

This box finally allows us to obtain a version Prime Earth by Ben Turner aka Bronze Tiger. The torso and the head of the character are nicely executed but here we can also regret the absence of details, even summary, on the legs delivered in Dark orange.

In short, this box sold for 90 € at LEGO but already available for much cheaper at Amazon In my opinion, deserves the detour with an original vehicle, a nice assortment of minifigs and playful possibilities increased tenfold by the presence of many additional Bat-things, which find here a justification for their design a priori very summary.

Sets as balanced as this one are becoming increasingly rare and it would be a shame to miss out on a product that in my opinion brings a little freshness to a range that often tends to be content to ramble.

Note: The set presented here, supplied by LEGO, is as usual in play. Deadline fixed at August 13, 2020 next at 23pm.

Update : The winner was drawn and was notified by email, his nickname is indicated below. Without a response from him to my request for contact details within 5 days, a new winner will be drawn.

LEGO Brick Sketches

Almost everything has already been said about the new range of LEGO portraits called Brick Sketches and inspired by the concept of Chris McVeigh who himself became an official designer.

Just know that the first four references of what could become a long-term range if successful are now online on the official store.

Almost unsurprisingly, we also know that it will cost € 19.99 per reference, whether the set contains 115 or 171 pieces. The price is unique, it's art. At this price, you can have fun for a few minutes and then proudly display the portrait obtained on the dresser in the living room or hang it on the wall using the clip provided.

I do not think of investing in these boxes, I am a little insensitive to the artistic side of the concept even if I readily admit that I found them. first creations of Chris McVeigh using this very original principle. From there to collecting them or filling my walls with them, there is a step that I will not take. Especially at this price.

Notice to complete collectors: Expect it to quickly become difficult to collect all the potential references, if the concept hangs on, LEGO will undoubtedly not hesitate to release us some more or less exclusive and difficult to find sets. As with the BrickHeadz.

Below, the direct link to each of the four references that will be available from July 15:

76159 Joker's Trike Chase

Today we are making a foray into the DC Comics universe with the set 76159 Joker's Trike Chase, one of the three boxes of the range marketed since the beginning of June 2020. Sold for 54.99 €, this small set of 440 pieces offers to assemble a new Batmobile, a three-wheeled motorcycle for the Joker and allows you to have fun without necessarily having to iron at the cash register to balance the forces involved.

The Batmobile provided here is a version no doubt vaguely inspired by the one seen in the video game Arkham Knight, ultra-simplified for the occasion. No steering or suspensions, but the result is quite interesting with an aggressive look and a really spacious cockpit.

The vehicle makes use of five examples of the transparent piece that has been used for years to close the cockpit of various rolling or flying machines. This element is here available in black and it dresses the wheels and the back of the Batmobile. This original use of a classic element is interesting even if the part only clips on one side and therefore does not really stay in place, especially at the level of the wheels. The vehicle could in the process almost do without the four stickers to stick on these wings with angular and smooth surfaces that make the machine truly photogenic.

Even if it has not been used for a few years in this color, the canopy of the cockpit is however not new, you have already seen it on the machine of the set 7067 Jet-Copter Encounter marketed in 2011 in the very successful but also very ephemeral Alien Conquest range. This coin is much more common in yellow, in Trans Red or Trans Orange, it is currently found in several Ninjago or Monkie Kid sets.

76159 Joker's Trike Chase

76159 Joker's Trike Chase

The cockpit is accessible enough to place Batman in it without having to call in someone with little fingers. It's up to you whether you want to let the cloth cape wrinkle behind the figure or if you prefer to remove it before installing the character behind the wheel of the machine.

Finally, the four wheels are dressed with pad-printed parts of the boss's logo already used in 2019 on the bat-vehicles of the sets. 76119 Batmobile: Pursuit of the Joker et 76122 Batcave Clayface Invasion.

Robin has to be content here with the red motorbike he shares with Spider-Man, Red Hood or the pizza delivery man from the Hidden Side range, or a scooter if you do not put in place the fairing on which it is necessary stick two stickers in the colors of Batman's young acolyte.

The other big machine of this box, the Trike (for three-wheeled motorcycle) of the Joker also seems to me sufficiently convincing to justify the purchase of this box. The designer has done tons of it so that you can guess at first glance who owns the device, but it is well in the spirit of the character.

The rear center wheel uses a steel rim Pearl Gold already seen in Silver in the set 76142 Avengers Speeder Bike Attack, on the Spider-Cycle of the set 76148 Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock and on the AIM machine of the set 76143 Avengers Truck Takedown.

The big function of this Trike, it is the opening of the mouth placed at the front when the vehicle is moving. It's well done and the effect is fun. The riding position is less whimsical than what LEGO recently offered us for Spider-Man or Black Panther on their respective contraptions and Harley Quinn can stand or sit right behind the Joker. You will have less chance than usual of losing the two small gray pistols of the Joker, they can be clipped on the sides of the saddle of the Trike.

76159 Joker's Trike Chase

76159 Joker's Trike Chase

Four characters are provided in this box and as often, the assortment mixes some new elements with a large ladle of pieces already seen in other sets.

Batman's torso and head are already delivered in 2019 in sets 76118 Mr. Freeze Batcycle Battle, 76119 Batmobile: Pursuit of the Joker, 76120 Batwing and The Riddler Heist et 76122 Batcave Clayface Invasion and this year in the set 76160 Mobile Bat Base which we will talk about shortly.

The character has three different cloaks here which allow her to change her appearance and make her a little more dynamic, but I find the initiative unconvincing and I would have gladly exchanged this set of rags for a single rigid cloak identical to the one seen in the set 76139 1989 Batmobile.

I note that, in accordance with what had been announced on the occasion of the conference on quality problems at LEGO, the content of which I summarized for you a few days ago, the pad printing of Batman's face is a little less pale than usual. It's not perfect with a skin tone that is still not at the level of the parts tinted in the mass, but there is progress.

Robin is also made up of elements already seen in other sets: the character's head and torso were present in the sets 76118 Mr. Freeze Batcycle Battle et 76122 Batcave Clayface Invasion, these pieces are placed on a pair of legs Medium articulated often used in the Harry Potter range.

The Joker's torso and head are previously seen pieces in the set 76119 Batmobile: Pursuit of the Joker, the head was also used in the sets 10753 The Joker Batcave Attack (2018) et 76138 Batman and The Joker Escape (2019)

76159 Joker's Trike Chase

76159 Joker's Trike Chase

Only Harley Quinn's minifig makes it possible to obtain new elements: the head and the hair were in the set 76138 Batman and The Joker Escape, but the torso and legs are new pieces without much artistic risk taking that remain in the spirit of what LEGO has already offered us in The LEGO Batman Movie range. The pad printing problem at the "knees" with a missing white ink area has still not been resolved at LEGO.

In short, this set will undoubtedly never become a great classic of the range but it puts us back in the mood for the film and the The LEGO Batman Movie range with two large vehicles sufficiently original to deserve our attention. and playability guaranteed by the balance of forces involved. Harley Quinn arguably deserved better than being relegated to the Joker's passenger rank, and a motorbike or simple tricycle would have been welcome.

The assortment of minifigs is a bit behind here with very little new for a lot of recycling and collectors will no doubt be disappointed. As usual, we will wait until this box is sold around 40 € before cracking.

Note: The set presented here, supplied by LEGO, is as usual in play. Deadline fixed at July 5, 2020 next at 23pm.
