21318 Treehouse

Well, I think we can stop pretending to have seen nothing: the LEGO Ideas set 21318 Treehouse is already on sale in some stores in Belgium and in at least one LEGOLAND Discover Center to USA. The first visuals of the set are therefore available via the one who could buy this box.

The official announcement of this set of 3036 pieces which will sell for around € 200 should in principle take place during the last week of July, time for LEGO to take advantage of the media exposure linked to San Diego Comic Con. Embargo requires, I will offer you a "Review "of the set, but not before July 23.

What we can say based on the visuals in the box: LEGO delivers two sets of leaves, a spring set and a set of parts that allow the tree to switch to fall mode. The pieces of vegetation are made from ethanol obtained from the distillation of sugar cane. Note that this bio-plastic is not biodegradable, and the use of sugar cane does not change the manufacturing process or the properties of the plastic obtained at the outlet.

The top of the tree and the roofs of the three converted cabins can be removed to access the interior of the various playable spaces, as was already the case on the initial LEGO Ideas project (see below) which has obviously been largely redesigned by the designer.

75936 Jurassic Park T. rex Rampage

For once, LEGO anticipates the inevitable reaction of many fans who will see in the LEGO set 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage a product largely inspired by LEGO Ideas project by Sami Mustosen aka Senteosan.

This project, which featured the park gate, a few minifigs, a brick-based T-rex and a Ford Explorer, was initially submitted to the LEGO Ideas platform in 2013 and was rejected in the process, LEGO not having then no license allowing it to market products based on the Jurassic Park / Jurassic World license.

In 2014, following an agreement with Universal, LEGO was preparing the marketing of products derived from the Jurassic Park / World cinematographic saga and the creator of the project had put online his creation which had gathered the 10.000 supports necessary for its passage in phase of review within a month. This project was subsequently rejected during the evaluation phase, as usual without a precise explanation of the reason for this rejection.

Today we are therefore entitled to an official statement reminding us that if the set looks like the LEGO Ideas project in question, it was thought out and developed in-house by the LEGO designers and that the T.rex model sold here is in made based on a creation by official designer Mike Psiaki from 2012.

We are also told that "great minds think alike"and that therefore the set unveiled today is not a cheap exploitation of an idea submitted a few years ago by a particularly creative fan ...

Of which act.

Although the new 75936 Jurassic Park T-Rex Rampage set shares similarities in design to the LEGO Ideas submission “Jurassic Park ”By senteosan, this model was developed entirely internally by a team of LEGO Designers who create great new sets that kids and adult fans alike are passionate about. The basis of their model was a large, gray, brick-built T-Rex created by LEGO Designer Mike Psiaki in 2012 when he joined the LEGO Group and from there the model evolved by including the iconic Jurassic Park gates to add additional building experience and value for “Expert” builders.

In our desire to continue to allow LEGO Ideas members to submit product ideas based on third-party licenses, we have in the LEGO Ideas guidelines acknowledged the fact that there may occur unintentional overlaps between products being developed internally by our design teams and those submitted by fans via LEGO Ideas. This is simply because great minds think alike sometimes, especially when basing designs on popular licenses of movies, TV shows, vehicles, buildings and more, with whom we either already collaborate with or who fit the LEGO brand values for potential future collaborations.

Bonus: The official video presentation of the set by the designers, who obviously recall that the T-rex was an idea dating from 2012, apavolé, blablabla ...:

lego ideas public voting results new set 2019

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the LEGO Ideas concept, we had to choose between four drafted LEGO Ideas projects and the results of the voting phase have just fallen: so this is the project International Space Station by XCLD which largely wins with 45.6% of the votes cast.

22000 votes were counted, and the ISS finished far ahead of the other three competing projects with 10438 votes. engraving finished second with 5739 votes, Sega Classic Arcade Machines ranks third with 3788 votes and Small Yellow finished last with only 2924 votes.

The ISS project is therefore taking the next step to ensure its conversion into an official model and will go on sale in 2020.

Too bad for fans of Stitch and the mini arcade that some already saw winning hands down, so much the better for fans of space conquest who will have to make room on their shelves.
