It's time for the official announcement of the LEGO Ideas set 21317 Steamboat Willie, a box that pays tribute to the animated short of the same name which in November 1928 featured Mickey, Minnie, Captain Pete (Pat Hibulaire) and some animals.

Steamboat Willie is not the first cartoon to feature the characters of Mickey and Minnie. In May 1928, plane crazy first allowed to discover Minnie for the first time alongside Mickey and Mickey gaucho introduced in August 1928 the character of Pat Hibulaire. These first two films were then silent and Steamboat Willie at least has the merit of being the first animated short film featuring Mickey to benefit from a soundtrack.

Regarding the set unveiled today, everyone will understand that LEGO has only kept here the idea of ​​the initial project, posted on the LEGO Ideas platform by Mate Szabo, to offer us a larger box (751 pieces) which will be sold 89.99 € in France on the LEGO Shop and in the LEGO Stores from April 1st.

The manufacturer has also taken some creative liberties with the cartoon from which this box is inspired and we will especially note the absence of the goat which eats the guitar and the scores of Minnie, however proposed by the creator of the initial project. Here we have to be content with a nod to the animal on the piece which reproduces the score.

Regarding Mickey's hat, the character actually wears it for only one minute at the start of the film which lasts seven, the accessory suddenly disappearing when Captain Pete (Pat Hibular) comes to take the helm of the boat from Mickey. Too bad, moreover, that Pat Hibulaire is not in this box, a BigFig of the character would have been welcome.

We could also discuss Mickey and Minnie's outfit, which was mostly white in the movie and turned silver gray in the set, but I'm saving these details for the "Review "which arrives in a few hours.

It's folded, the results of the second phase of evaluation 2018 of the LEGO Ideas projects having reached the required threshold of 10.000 supports have just fallen and these are two projects that will soon be on the shelves in the form of official sets: the project Steamboat Willie by Máté Szabó and the project Central Perk by Aymeric Fievet based on the Friends TV series.

Two sets for nostalgia from two different eras: the Steamboat Willie project pays tribute to the animated short released in 1928 and fans of the Friends series, broadcast in France for the first time in 1996 and which has since been looping the beautiful days of TNT channels, can console themselves with a playset featuring their favorite characters.

LEGO today unveils the LEGO Ideas set 21316 The Flintstones, a freely inspired product of Andrew Clark's project.

There are four minifigs (Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty) and enough to assemble the house of the Flintstones family and the family Flinstonemobile. Too bad Barney is not equipped here with small legs, just to keep the contrast of size with Fred and Betty.

Regarding the design of the face of Fred and Barney, the nose is here suggested by a rather successful pad printing but I find that the effect is ultimately not very convincing.

Too bad that LEGO did not take the party to offer us the Flintstones and Laroche families in full by integrating Pépite (Pebbles) and Bam-Bam. I also note the absence of Dino, but Fred's pet was not in the original project anyway.
