Who takes care of AFOLs at LEGO? As some of you know, there is a service at LEGO that manages the relationship between the manufacturer and the adult fans: LE CEE Team (Community Engagement and Events Team) composed of three people: Kevin Hinkle for the Americas, Kim Thomsen for Western Europe and the "online" part and Jan Beyer for Asia, Central Europe and Australia. You have probably already heard of some of them, here or elsewhere ...
Since June 2013, these three people are now supervised from Billund by Keith Severson, the new "Senior Manager of Community Support at LEGO Group", present at LEGO for two years and passed through production and marketing.
Beyond the Brick was able to ask a few questions to this manager who takes care of us, the AFOLs, and if you speak a little English, you can find out what he has to say in the video below.
No major revelation or world scoop, but largely enough to understand who this manager is and how this CEE Team works that you can also follow via the dedicated blog.
You can try the French subtitling function offered by YouTube, but I warn you, the result is very approximate, not to say incomprehensible.
By clicking on the image above (an excerpt from the book The LEGO Movie: The Official Guide), you will discover a preliminary visual of the set 70815 Super Secret Police Dropship which will be delivered with 8 minifigs including Batman.
Also in the box: Emmet, Johnny Thunder, a green ninja and four robot cops.
Notice to fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles range, here are finally the boxes of the sets 79119 Mutation Chamber Unleashed (196 pieces) and 79120 T-Rawket Sky Strike (286 pieces) uploaded by a german merchant site.
It's not high resolution, but it's still better than nothing ...
(With Eurobricks)
To relax the atmosphere, here's what to take care of: The LEGO Movie is everywhere right now, even on the P'tit Volvic bottle packs ...
By going to the dedicated website in this partnership, you can win cinema tickets, video games, minifigs, bags and movie posters by trying your luck at the proposed game (a kind of candy Crush Saga).
It's fun and it allows you to keep busy while waiting for the first descriptions of Star Wars sets from the second half of 2014 which will be presented tomorrow during the London Toy Fair 2014.
A priori, photos will be prohibited on the LEGO stand, as in previous years. It will be necessary to be satisfied with the written reports proposed by the visitors.
(Thanks to Zack-Attack for his email)
Big change in the LEGO policy towards French AFOLs with a tightening of the conditions of access to AFOL Shopping Days, these one-off events that I have already told you about on the blog and which allow adults who love LEGOs to obtain a 15% discount on all products offered in the LEGO Stores.
It is no longer enough to be a teenager or adult (16 years minimum), to like LEGOs and to agree to get up early to benefit from this privilege: You will now need to have a VIP card (Free registration in line on the Lego shop) and a sesame, in this case the sticker above, which can only be obtained via the LUG of which you are a member (This process has already been in effect in the USA since 2012). Access to the four AFOL Days planned in France in 2014 will therefore be reserved for holders of this sticker who will undoubtedly have to register with the managers of their LUG, indicating which LEGO Store they will want to go to on the day of the operation.
Note that there is no longer a specific time slot, you just have to go to the cash desk during the day in question and present your VIP card with the sticker provided by the LUG.
I forgot, it is already possible to get this sticker against a few euros, I have just been offered a handful by email (I politely refused) ... Knowing that a priori the only people who have access to this sticker in quantity are necessarily the representatives of a LUG in contact with the brand ...
And when I ask if by buying this sticker I will have access to AFOL Days, the first of the four events planned for this year will take place on February 1, I am told that yes and that the staff of the LEGO Store will probably not verify if I am on the list of LUG members authorized to benefit from the specific conditions (15% discount on public prices in LEGO Stores) valid that day. CQFD.
Note: Do not ask me to tell you who you can buy this sticker from, register in a LUG instead if you are interested in these AFOL Days.
