The Gates of Argonath

here's one microphone-MOC which deserves a wink here. Found on Brickshelf (In Gallery de YU, but I am not sure that he is the author of this MOC), this reproduction of Pillars of the Kings or Gates of Argonath seen in the first installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, immediately caught my eye of fans of compact but detailed MOCs ...

Well done to the creator, it's brilliant.

Until we have something more concrete to bite into, here is a poster of the next Thor (The Dark World) in LEGO sauce, obviously intended to celebrate the upcoming release of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game.

Beyond the nice side of the thing, I hope that this poster will soon be offered in paper version on the LEGO Shop on the occasion for example of a purchase of products from the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes range ...

Bricktober @ Toys R Us

If you were planning to buy on eBay ou bricklink the polybag 30116 Robin and Redbird Cycle, wait two more weeks: Its price should logically drop a little following the event organized by Toys R Us in the USA on October 19: This polybag, so far untraceable since distributed only in Canada, will be offered to the TRU customer for any purchase of at least $ 20 from the LEGO Super Heroes Batman range.

For information, the Robin minifig delivered in this bag is identical to that of the sets 6857 The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape et 6860 The Batcave. The bag features a Robin with a red belt buckle, but this is a mistake, so the one provided is not exclusive.

The event will also allow you to build on site and take away a Joker Mini Mech Bot for free. Here it is not the pieces that will interest collectors, but the LEGO instruction sheet that will be given to customers as was the case for the JEK-14 mini Stealth Starfighter last May.

LEGO Creator Expert 10243 Parisian Restaurant

LEGO has just presented the new Structure (LEGO Creator Expert range): 10243 Parisian Restaurant "Chez Albert".

I don't know if it's really very "Parisian", but this set is still a great success.

Below is the official info on the set followed by a selection of photos and the presentation video by designer Jamie Berard.

The photos are also online at my flickr gallery and Hoth Bricks facebook page.

It's very busy in the Parisian Restaurant. As a scooter zips by, inside the waiter rushes between the tables as the nervous young man gets ready to propose with the ring! It's just as hectic behind the scenes, with the chef busily preparing the food. This beautifully detailed building is the setting for so many stories and is a great addition to the modular building series. The Parisian Restaurant has a fully-stocked, blue and white tiled kitchen with tableware as well as a cozy apartment with pull-down bed, kitchenette and fireplace. On the top floor is the artist's room with a studio that includes a cast iron heater, easel, paintbrush and two works of art by the aspiring artist. Outside, stairs lead down to the roof terrace lined with hanging lanterns and flowers where the diners eat alfresco-style. This amazing Parisian Restaurant model even includes a facade with croissants, clams and feather details that recapture the feel of Paris. Includes 5 minifigures: chef, waiter, girl and a romantic couple.

The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror XXIV Couch Gag by Guillermo del Toro

When Guillermo Del Toro tackles the credits of the special Halloween episode of The Simpsons, the result is a bit ... crazy, and that's saying something.

Instead of adding a few touches reminiscent of this particular time of the year in the usual credits of the series, Del Toro completely revisited it in his own way.

References to horror cinema in the (very) broad sense of the term abound and you will undoubtedly need several viewings to capture them all ...
