10237 The Tower of Orthanc

The LEGO Store Calendar for June confirms the info we got a week ago: The 10237 The Tower of Orthanc set will be available in advance for VIP customers who can get it through the LEGO Shop or in LEGO Store from June 17 to 30.

The official release date of the set whose sale price is € 199.99 remains on July 1, 2013.

To learn all about this famous VIP program at LEGO, roll your mouse wheel and read the article at the bottom of the page which explains how it works.

I am often surprised to see that many AFOLs do not know this VIP status which allows to obtain a small reduction on the public price of boxes purchased directly from LEGO. A little reminder is never too much.

Venator by Dark Zion

He says it himself, his Venator makes his son happy and that is certainly the most important. We can discuss for long hours on the proportions of this MOC of 709 pieces and 41 cm long, but it is clearly not a model here.

Dark Zion, author of some superb looking MOCs Chibi that you can discover on his website, presents his latest creation and I must say that I particularly appreciate the aspect "Neat and tidy"which emerges from this MOC with an interior space that can accommodate a few minifigs.

It's compact, playable, and without unnecessary frills or greebs which may come off at the slightest displacement.

As the other would say, it's perfectly swooshable (direction the lexic for those wondering what that means).

Many photos are to be discovered on Dark Zion website.

The Yoda ChroniclesDefinitely, we can't escape The Yoda Chronicles this week with the latest teaser before the broadcast of the first episode of the animated mini-series on May 29 on Cartoon Network (USA).

Note that this same episode will be broadcast in Great Britain from Monday, May 27, still on the Cartoon Network channel.

No information for the moment on broadcasting in France, if you find something in the list of programs of your favorite channel, do not hesitate to indicate it in the comments.

Just a clarification, if there should one day be a Blu-ray / DVD edition regrouping the three episodes of this mini-saga accompanied by a collector minifig, I will immediately vote for Disco Lando...

sony lego research japan

LEGO, which works with Sony, is surprising enough to be talked about.

It is as part of Sony's research program (Sony Computer Science Laboratories) in Tokyo that the two manufacturers join forces to develop the toys of the future.

There are motorized LEGO toys equipped with mini-cameras, controlled from a Sony Playstation controller.

One member of the Sony research team mentions that LEGO is losing potential young customers to video games and is taking it very seriously. The idea of this project is to keep a relatively small LEGO toy while incorporating a certain dose of interactivity.

This project is still at the experimental stage and there is no question of commercialization yet. Some issues like the very short battery life will need to be addressed first.
