BrotherhoodWorkshop - LEGO Treebeard's Holiday Special

Little Christmas present from the guys at home Brotherhood Workshop with this very friendly brickfilm featuring Treebeard grappling with a bunch of belligerent logging orcs.

As usual, it's very well scripted and directed. We are really reaching the top of what is possible in brickfilm. I really like the Ent's movements which are consistent with those of the film with the same inertia and perfectly reproduced gestures.

Gollum is hiding somewhere in this video, try to locate him.

New Dewback by Daiman

In line with the new Jabba figurine (9516 Jabba's Palace) and the recent Rancor (75005 Rancor Pit), the Dewback also deserves a little refresh.

This iconic creature from Star Wars and therefore from the LEGO range from this universe has not yet been entitled to its remake since the 2004 version available in the set 4501 Mos Eisley Cantina.

daiman offers his interpretation of what the next generation Dewback could be. The design is largely inspired by the Dino range, Daiman does not hide it, and it is rather convincing.

I also hope that LEGO will continue in the future to revisit the entire Star Wars bestiary by offering us more elaborate Wampa or Tauntaun figures for example.

You will find more views on the Cuusoo project that Daiman created to try to showcase his idea.

24/12/2012 - 19:35 Lego news

I'm taking advantage of this period of relative calm to post here some trailers for upcoming films from which LEGO should release some sets (or not).

It is still necessary to keep in mind that when LEGO produces a set inspired by a movie, it is always with a certain freedom of interpretation ...

It should also be noted that LEGO does not wait for the release of the film to design the sets inspired by it. These sets are ready long months before the film is finished and announced and LEGO only has the information that the production agrees to communicate (Scenario, storyboards, artworks ...) so that the designers can work.

We start with the trailer for Man of Steel, the next Superman, which is more than promising. We should finally be entitled to a darker Superman and a little less silly than usual. The costume has been modernized and it all seems a lot less old-fashioned than what we've been offered so far. Released in theaters June 19, 2013.

The sets already known (They were briefly online at amazon):

76002 Superman - Metropolis Showdown
76003 Superman - Battle of Smallville
76009 Superman - Black Zero Escape

We continue with Iron Man 3. I'm a fan, and the trailer confirms that this third opus should be of the same barrel as the two previous ones. We already know that several sets from the Iron Man saga are on the program in 2013. Released in theaters on May 1, 2013.

The sets already known (They were briefly online at amazon):

76006 Iron Man - Extremis Harbor Battle
76007 Iron Man - Malibu Mansion Attack
76008 Iron Man vs. Mandarin Ultimate Battle

We end with a trailer that is close to my heart: That of GI Joe: Retaliation (Who becomes with us GI Joe: Conspiracy). And even if LEGO will not release us sets based on the universe of GI Joe, I think that this license, whose adaptation to the cinema is to my taste a real success, would largely deserve a presence in the catalog of the manufacturer. Released in theaters March 27, 2013.

Coruscant School District Shuttle by Omar Ovalle

Anyone who has seen The Padawan Menace (still on sale in Blu-ray / DVD version with minifig collector) or The Empire Strikes Out will immediately recognize this space school transport offered by Omar Ovalle and which is freely inspired by the two versions present in these animated short films.

A small official set with some well-chosen minifigs and this transport shuttle piloted by Lobot would also not be refused.
After all, The Padawan Menace has been a hit with fans and is now an integral part of the wider (LEGO) Star Wars universe.

As an aside: It's yet to be confirmed, but it looks like The Empire Strikes Out doesn't ultimately get a DVD / Blu-ray release ...

LEGO Star Wars 9509 Advent Calendar 2012

Last days for this LEGO Star Wars 2012 Advent calendar with the two minifigs that justify (or not) the purchase of this set: The R2-D2 in snowman mode and Darth Maul disguised as Santa Claus.

It's festive, it's cute, but not much will be done with them except to keep them as unique minifigs in our collections.

We are now eagerly awaiting the 2013 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar ... as well as The Hobbit 2013 Calendar, Super Heroes 2013 Calendar, Legends of Chima 2013 Calendar, etc ...

In the end, this calendar is in my opinion largely on the level of that of 2011, you will interpret that as you want.

The predictions are open on the exclusive minifigs of 2013: Santamidala? Anakin Snowalker? Obi Claus Kenobi?
