LEGO Star Wars 40407 Death Star II Battle (GWP)

Today we take a quick look at the LEGO Star Wars set 40407 Death Star II Battle which will be offered from 75 € purchase at LEGO from May 1 to 4, 2020, during the operation May the 4th.

You already know if you are used to the LEGO Star Wars range, this small box uses the principle of the micro-diorama already available in two other promotional sets: the references 40333 Battle of Hoth (set offered during the May the 4th operation in 2019) and 40362 Battle of Endor (set offered during Triple Force Friday in October 2019). We could almost add to this collection the small set 6176782 Escape the Space Slug offered in 2016 by LEGO and which serves as a pioneer in the Star Wars micro-diorama.

This year, we get a scene vaguely inspired by Episode VI (Return of the Jedi) which takes place on the surface of Death Star II with here an A-Wing pursued by a Tie Interceptor. We use the principle of the exhibition base assembled in SNOT version (Studs Not On Top) already used for the bases of the scenes proposed in sets 40333 and 40362 and the diorama here takes on a little volume and consistency thanks to the pillars covered with parts Dark Red and turret integrated. No surprise, with 235 pieces in the box, assembling the three-part base and the two ships only takes a few minutes.

LEGO Star Wars 40407 Death Star II Battle (GWP)

As with the other two sets based on the same concept, this diorama is dressed in a pad printed piece which reminds us here that this is a product from the LEGO Star Wars range and that we are in 2020. Too bad for consistency with the two other scenes offered in 2019 which were decorated with a plaque referring to the 20 years of the range.

Two micro-vessels are provided: an A-Wing, probably in reference to the one in the Ultimate Collector Series of set 75275 which will be marketed from May 1, 2020 and a Tie Interceptor which one wonders what it is doing there. The ship is present during the Battle of Endor seen in Episode VI but it does not seem to me to have seen an explicit pursuit scene between the two ships presented here on the surface of Death Star II.

On this scale, no miracle, the two ships consist of a few parts and are barely on the level of those we regularly get in the LEGO Star Wars Advent calendars and as with the other two existing micro-dioramas, it do not also be too careful on the global scale. Nothing prevents you from replacing the two ships with a little more consistent and detailed versions from polybags, for example the A-Wing of the polybag 30272, the presentation base will easily accommodate constructions on another scale. .

As this new product is a promotional item offered under condition of purchase, there is no reason not to add an additional micro-diorama to your collections as long as you plan to spend your money on the official online store on the dates. planned. These small thematic sets do not take up too much space, they are aesthetically rather successful and this format changes us a bit from the usual scale of classic sets. LEGO values these boxes offered at 14.99 € (see the set sheet on the official online store) and I think that even if they were sold at this price, they would find their audience quite easily.

See you on May 1st for the launch of the offer which will allow you to be offered this small set from 75 € of purchase.

75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter

Today we take a quick look at the LEGO Star Wars set 75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter (578 pieces - 69.99 €), a box inspired by the film The Rise of Skywalker and marketed since October 4. As usual, we will remain very careful about the fidelity of the content of the set with what we will see on the screen next December and we will be content to take this product for what it is: yet another performance. Y-Wing in LEGO sauce accompanied by some characters.

There are also no more versions of the Y-Wing at LEGO. "Classic" versions, model based on the animated series The Clone Wars, UCS, Microfighters, I believe that we have covered the subject widely in 20 years and it is always appreciable to have the right to a little originality even if the starting point remains similar.

The advantage of this new version is to move away from the color scheme usually used for this ship. So we find ourselves here with a red and white livery which will justify the purchase of this box without telling ourselves that it is yet a classic Y-Wing, whose design has been redesigned to better meet the requirements of today's fans, which we buy.

75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter

Some pieces Technic for the main frame, a cockpit which gradually takes shape according to the different stickers to stick on the cabin, a pad-printed canopy which allows you to refine everything and we are there. There is nothing very complicated to assemble here and the youngest should find their way around.

It will be a little less obvious when it will be necessary to affix the different stickers that give the ship a little personality. These are big stickers that must be carefully aligned so as not to mess up the look of the model. And this is where we see that LEGO definitely has a problem with white. Off-white, creamy white or immaculate white, all the colors pass through and the result is not very successful. The pieces are not really white, the stickers are. The difference in color is clearly visible and it is disappointing.

If the canopy of the vessel is not unique, the pad printing of the part is however specific to this model. I don't know if LEGO intended to match the color with the rest of the front end of the ship, yet that's what the official retouched visuals displayed on the manufacturer's store suggest, but it failed.

75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter

The two reactors are also quickly assembled with a few logically repetitive steps as desired. The whole is rather solid and easy to handle, even if the "branches" of the reactors will sometimes tend to unclip unexpectedly. The end result is visually very correct with an appreciable attention to detail for a model of this scale.

A satisfying detail: The presence of three landing gears, admittedly basic but foldable to retract them during the flight phase, which give the ship a little allure when it is placed on the corner of a shelf.

75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter

Question playability, there is something to have a little fun with two Spring-Shooters rather well integrated which with a simple pressure on the tail of the missile ejects their projectile. In the center of the ship, there is a bomb bay that can store three ammunition that will then have to be released using the dial placed at the back. The integration of the storage mechanism is successful and the wheel does not disfigure the whole.

The cockpit is a little cramped, you have to orient Zorii Bliss' helmet so that the rear protuberance of the accessory goes under the planned release. The astromech droid finds its place in the usual location, as usual in a position that is not the one seen on this type of ship but we will do with it.

75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter

The minifig endowment is rather interesting here with a Snowtrooper, Zorii Bliss, Poe Dameron, an astromech droid and the small DO droid. Unsurprisingly, the Snowtrooper reuses elements already seen in other boxes since 2015 including the Lego Star Wars 2017 Advent Calendar.

Zorii Bliss is a character that we don't know much about yet, but at least we know it's actress Keri Russell (Elizabeth Jennings in the series The Americans) which is hidden under the costume. If the character does not take off his helmet throughout the film, the neutral head is justified. Otherwise, it's a shame. LEGO is doing quite well with the plastic version of the helmet worn by the character in the film. It's bulky, but it's consistent with what we've seen so far on the various promotional visuals provided by Disney.

Poe Dameron is delivered here in an all-new outfit, seen in the movie trailer, with an adventurer shirt and bandana around his neck. The character's head is not new, it is the one seen so far in a good half-dozen sets. Logically, Oscar Isaac hasn't aged much since The Force Awakens.

Regarding the two droids provided, I will settle for two remarks: I don't know what I really expected regarding DO, but I am a little disappointed with the Kinder figure delivered here even if it seems difficult to do otherwise. . The astromech droid seems almost successful, except that on closer inspection we see that LEGO is trying to solve the problem of pad printing a white area on a darker background by applying two coats. It failed, still it would be necessary to align the two layers of white correctly.

75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter

Overall, I am seduced by this box which offers an original, detailed and playable interpretation of the Y-Wing. I'm also a little disappointed with the usual technical flaws that LEGO still doesn't go out of its way to correct to deliver a truly flawless high-end toy. This set of less than 600 pieces is still sold € 69.99, at this price and coming from a manufacturer whose job it is, I think I have the right to be demanding. Fortunately, it is already possible to pay for this box a little cheaper than its public price to pass the pill.

10267 Gingerbread House

Today we are quickly interested in the LEGO Creator Expert set 10267 Gingerbread House, a box that joins the long list of sets that form the Winter village with LEGO sauce. Festive spirit, snowy roofs, Christmas tree and various and varied gifts, this new box of 1477 pieces sold for € 94.99 is in the theme.

Since this is a set from the Creator Expert range, the set obviously gives pride of place to elaborate construction techniques and finishing details that are usually absent from sets considered more lambdas.

Without revealing too much so that those who will spend their money on this set will benefit from the many techniques implemented here, there is something to have fun and learn in the process to combine a few pieces to obtain an original effect. The junction of the roof tops, the windows clad in glittery bricks or the bathtub on the first floor are among the many elements that make good use of these techniques that non-MOCeurs are not always used to encounter, except to be fan of type sets Modulars.

The final model measuring only 26 cm wide, 21 cm high and 13 cm deep, you will understand that the 1477 pieces are mostly small elements that intervene in the construction of the house and the various accessories that make it. accompany. Pass from the imposing Imperial Star Destroyer from set 75252 that I just finished taking apart and repacking for the future winner of this set had something relaxing. Here, everything is in the details and we never get bored.

10267 Gingerbread House

We quickly go over the mini-things that accompany the house and the characters in this box: another mini Christmas tree here surmounted by a star made from diamonds already seen in other colors within the Elves range, a few gifts, a rocking horse, a pram, a snowblower and some toys. These elements will easily find their place in your dioramas, that's always right.

No unusual process in the construction of the gingerbread house, we go up from the bottom to the top. A little tiling, a few sweets, the fireplace, the living room armchair, the furniture, everything is linked together to finish with the installation of the various roof panels. Unlike a classic home, here some of the furniture has been reimagined in a candy version and it is very successful. The white chocolate bed, the cotton candy bedside lamp and the candy or cake-based drawer handles make their little effect.

Among the new coins available in this box, we will retain the colored ingots Tan that dress the first floor bed and the purple colored 1x1 glitter bricks used for the construction windows. The pink version of these bricks, also present in this box, made the heyday of the Belville range in the 2000s and an appearance in the LEGO Friends Advent calendar in 2012.

This half-house is above all a playset, with its open side which allows you to enjoy the different rooms and their fittings. Once again, we could debate the interest of providing us with a half-construction when the model is rather intended to be enthroned in the middle of a winter village emerged from the boxes on the occasion of the end of year celebrations, but I find that the house here remains sufficiently "closed" to be able to be exposed from certain angles.

10267 Gingerbread House

10267 Gingerbread House

The set incorporates a luminous brick which allows the hearth of the fireplace to be lit on condition that you keep your finger pressed on the smoke coming out of the duct on the roof. As usual, it is not possible to leave the fireplace on all the time, except to tinker with the construction, and that's a shame.

This fireplace is also a little strange: it is open both to the interior of the house and to the outside. It's totally fancy, but it allows you to take advantage of the integrated lighting on both sides of the construction.

In the official product description, LEGO announces three minifigures. In my opinion, it is a bit of an exaggeration, the baby is a simple slice of gingerbread embodied by a pad printing on a tile. LEGO misses in my opinion here the opportunity to provide us with a baby in Medium Dark Flesh composed of the elements that we have already obtained for example in the sets 60134 Fun in the Park City People Pack et 10255 Assembly Square.

The two real figurines delivered in this box are very successful. Their torso takes the design already used for other characters of the same type by adding red buttons for the festive side. On the other hand, no pad printing on the legs of the two characters as on the figurine of the 11th series of collectible characters launched in 2013 (71022) or that of the promotional mini-set 5005156 Gingerbread Man offered in 2016.

The female character, however, received special care with a decorated skirt and a pink insert between the two slices of gingerbread on the head. All in all, we find ourselves there. The flat baby comes with his bottle, an accessory already seen in many sets in the LEGO Friends range.

10267 Gingerbread House

In short, this set should in my opinion quickly become a staple of everything Winter village who respects himself. It is really in the theme, its assembly is an opportunity to discover some original techniques and and this pretty gingerbread house filled with sweets is a feast for the eyes.

As a bonus, LEGO provides a very large handful of 70 Spare Parts, those extra pieces that are left on your hands as you finish putting the build together and start wondering where you left something behind ...

For those who are wondering, there are only three stickers in this box: the family photo above the fireplace, the doormat and the sign. Candy lane fixed on one of the two barley sugars.

I say yes, although a "real" baby would have been welcome.

10267 Gingerbread House

LEGO today unveils the Creator Expert set 10267 Gingerbread House, the festive box Winter village of the end of the year 2019 with its 1477 pieces and its public price set at 94.99 € (109 CHF). Availability expected in VIP preview for September 18, 2019 on the LEGO Shop and in the LEGO Stores.

The house, to be integrated into a Winter village composed of many references already sold on the same theme, measures 26 cm long, 21 cm high and 13 cm deep and it is equipped with a fireplace lit by a luminous brick placed on the roof.

Two characters are delivered in this set, they are accompanied by a gingerbread baby pad printed on a Tile.

This is not the first gingerbread house produced by LEGO but it is obviously the most voluminous: the small promotional set 40139 Gingerbread House (2015) was content with 277 pieces and the house of the mini-set 5005156 Gingerbread Man (2016) was in cardboard ...

LEGO has also already produced gingerbread minifigures: The one from the 11th collectible minifig series in 2013 (71022) and the one from the promotional mini-set 5005156 Gingerbread Man in 2016.
