LEGO Cuusoo - Reviews in progress

As a preamble, note that the Jurassic Park project initiated by senteosan was definitely buried despite its 6495 supporters: LEGO recalls that another brand holds the Jurassic Park license, in this case Hasbro with its KRE-O range.

Hasbro has in fact signed a licensing agreement with Universal around the new film in the franchise, Jurassic Park 4, due in summer 2014.
All remaining projects around the Jurassic Park license in the race on Cuusoo will be progressively "archived", understand withdrawn, as soon as they reach 1000 supporters.

As for the next phase of "Review", no less than 7 projects (See the image above). Apart from the project Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary presented by Brent Waller, I don't see much coming out of this fall review.

Most of the other projects in the running, the feminist "Battle Pack", the rather minimalist reproduction of the CERN ATLAS module or the inspired mini-ships from the game FTL: Faster Than Light, have reached 10.000 supporters thanks to the intensive lobbying of their creators and the buzz on social networks, but their content does not in my opinion deserve to go further.

On the sidelines of Cuusoo, we are currently talking a lot about the excellent work of Orion Pax on the license Masters of the Universe (The Masters of the Universe). Obviously, all those nostalgic for the animated series go there with their "Shut up and take my money"on Twitter and others, and hope that the buzz will be enough to make LEGO react in the right direction.

But it is wasted effort and for a very simple reason: It was Mattel who created from scratch Masters of the Universe license and there is absolutely no chance that LEGO will ever release a box containing Musclor (He-Man), She-ra and Skeletor ...

Mattel, to take advantage at the time of the general craze forHeroic-Fantasy and Conan the Barbarian, has also first launched a range of toys Masters of the Universe in 1981 before ordering in 1983 from the Filmation studio the advertising animated series that we (almost) all know.

That being said, Orion Pax has covered almost all of the content of the license and you can go to his site to discover every character, every device and even the Castle of Shadows (Castle Grayskull) in LEGO version (Click here).

Lego cuusoo

This was bound to happen eventually: Cuusoo was taken hostage by some MOCeurs who settled their accounts in "flagrant"their rivals in order to report them to the team in charge of managing the site, in particular to claim the authorship of an idea or a project.

And we are talking about Brick Queen (But yes, remember ...) who has just seen his Cuusoo account deleted following numerous complaints from other users of the participatory platform. All projects of the Queen of Bricks were therefore withdrawn and his account was banned.

A video was posted on her YouTube account where she explains that this ban is unjustified, that it is a smear operation organized by an MOCeur answering the pseudo of tjspencer1 who appealed to his own supporters to report en masse the account of the young lady and obtain her eviction. At stake, paternity of a project based on the Jurassic Park franchise, Cuusoo's regulations being very clear on the need for the novelty of a submitted project.

Immediate ripple effect, Brick Queen fans immediately responded by "flagrant"in turn the user's account and projects tjspencer1. War is therefore declared and the Cuusoo platform is transformed into a battlefield on which these "Happy fans"from LEGO.

Collateral victim of this conflict, another Cuusoo user, Senteosan, which has nothing to do with this story but also submitted a project, rather nice besides, on the Jurassic Park theme. This is probably enough to convince Brick Queen fans to take it out on him too ...

The team in charge of the management of the Cuusoo platform has already reacted by posting a warning in comments of the tjspencer1 project, but the site is completely saturated and the sling is getting organized ... Insults burst forth, threats sometimes go very (too) far (Especially in comments posted on the Queen's YouTube video), calls for the reactivation of the banned account are multiplying on Twitter ...

Who is right, who is wrong ? I couldn't care less to tell you the whole story, but when I see the sad spectacle offered to everyone by the two factions present, I can only note that a certain fringe of the "Community" of LEGO fans would do better to change hobby ...

Jamie Bernard

Here's a bit of reading (English only, I couldn't find a French version) for anyone who wants to learn more about LEGO's strategy for working with the AFOL community.

The article published in June 2013 that you can download in PDF format at this address is the result of a study conducted from 2003 to 2011 into the relationships that increasingly link the manufacturer and the brand's adult fans / customers when it comes to innovation and new products.

We discover in particular that since 1998 more than 20 AFOLs have been hired as designers by LEGO, that LEGO is following more and more closely the proposals made by the fan community, saving in the process a little money in research and development. is obviously talking about Cuusoo, the initiative of Lisa Taylor who, allergic to metals used in low-end jewelry, launched her own range of brick-based jewelry in collaboration with the manufacturer ...

We also learn that the range of Modular Buildings launched in 2007 is the result of a consultation with fans who suggested to LEGO to produce a series of sets allowing to reconstitute an urban space, that Jamie Berard, AFOL of his state, was then hired to get the project started, and several other AFOLs then joined the team in charge of this range, etc ...

The authors of the study also go there for their advice to enable manufacturers who want to bring their most talented fans into their new product development process: More contacts, more surveys, precise tracking and targeting of members of the the most active community and able to actively participate in the development of new products, the establishment of collaborative platforms such as Cuusoo which make it possible to assess the interest of the community and the general public for a possible new product, etc. ...

I stop there, there is a lot to read and learn from this very interesting article.

If you are fluent in English, go for it. You can download the PDF file to the Hoth Bricks server at this address: The Benefits and Challenges of Collaborating with User Communities.

Sheild your eyes from light ...

For those who don't read the reviews, the LEGO Cuusoo team just responded to the printing issue (See here) of the part representing the Capacitor Flux from set 21103 Back to the Future Time Machine.

In essence, LEGO announces that the problem is now known to its services, that the official market date for the set via the LEGO Shop remains set for August 1 and that LEGO is currently looking for the best solution to solve this annoying problem.

Click on the image above to go to the message page, which will be updated as soon as a solution is found.

By the way, take a few minutes to read the review of set 21103 by gnaat on the BrickPirate forum.
