Chris McVeigh is an inspired artist: His series of "Brick Sketches"is constantly evolving as you may have recently discovered on Hoth Bricks or Brick Heroes.
It is Bart Simpson's turn to undergo the "coloring" treatment inflicted on many characters from films and animated series by Chris McVeigh. And it is successful ...
A few pieces, a good dose of talent, a beautiful photo and voila.
Other creations of the same ilk are to be discovered on the flickr gallery by Chris MCVeigh aka Powerpig.
The rumor of the day comes from the blog allaboutbricks.com : The long-awaited LEGO The Simpsons range could in fact be reduced to a simple series of 16 sachets containing the characters of the animated series which would follow the series 12 of Collectible Minifigures, which will be based on the characters from The LEGO Movie (See this article).
So series 13 would be composed of 16 characters from the Simpsons universe and would be added to the long list of derivative products expected to celebrate the 25 years of the series.
Many manufacturers have marketed over the years boxes containing exclusively the characters of the series, without any accessories. So it's no wonder that LEGO wants to follow in the footsteps of these brands and only capitalize on the characters.
On the side of any sets we have obtained a supposed list recently nothing confirmed, but still according to the same rumor, LEGO does not plan to market complete sets, at least in Great Britain.
This is all pure speculation, so you have to be careful.
The existential question of the day: Will we get a few cans of Duff beer in the next LEGO The Simpsons sets?
A priori no, if we stick to the rules of ethics and good conduct laid down by LEGO: No alcohol in the so-called "contemporary" sets.
However, a few deviations from the rule have occurred with the release of new products: The Series 9 server by Collectible Minifigures is thus delivered with a bottle (of wine) with a label representing a bunch of grapes.
The "Simpsons" franchise is based on a cartoon, therefore a fictional universe, beer Duff could therefore benefit from a new departure from the rule without calling into question the main principles of LEGO.
In the meantime, I count on EclipseGRAFX to quickly offer us a LEGO version of Duff beer. His previous beverage creations (Photo above) are very convincing and the same principle can be used to replicate Homer's favorite drink of Homer Simspon.
Note that the Duff brand is originally fictitious and specially created for the animated series, undoubtedly a parody reference to the American brand Budweiser. It was not until 2006 that the brand became very real in the American market and in 2009 in Europe, with two breweries, one Belgian and the other German, operating the brand.
First rumor concerning the sets of the next LEGO The Simpsons range, to be taken with a grain of salt of course. The list below was obtained by a guy who knows a guy who works in a toy store and posted on Reddit. It's still better than nothing, but it's still an unconfirmed rumor:
Bart's Skate Trick (Public price announced £ 10) with minifigs by Bart Simpson and Milhouse Van Houten.
Homer at the Control Panel (Public price announced £ 20) with minifigs from Homer Simpson, Mr Burns and Waylon Smithers.
Lisa's Sax Preformance (Public price announced £ 30) with minifigs of Lisa Simpson, Marge Simpson and the two twins Sherri and Terri.
Springfield Shops (Public price announced £ 50) featuring minifigs by Bart Simpson, a Krusty Burger cashier, Krusty the Clown, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon and Nelson Muntz.
Simpson's house (Retail price announced £ 70) featuring the minifigs of Bart Simpson, Homer Simpson, Marge Simpson, Lisa Simpson, Maggie Simpson, Abraham Jay-Jedediah "Abe" Simpson aka Grandpa, Ned Flanders and the dog Santa's Little Helper.
Since the announcement of the arrival in 2014 of LEGO products bearing the image of the Simpsons, opinions have been divided on the interest of declining this license in plastic version: Some believe that the TV series is far too vulgar to integrate the LEGO universes and others consider that the golden age of The Simpsons is already over.
Yet a recent study ranks The Simpsons at the top of the Internet users' favorite TV series. This ranking is an amalgamation of data retrieved from Facebook, Twitter and Wikipedia, and even if the evaluation methodology may seem questionable in the eyes of some, the fact remains that the Simpsons are making the "buzz" and still generate as much interactions on the Internet, in front of other very popular TV series.
Below, a summary of this ranking with the details of the criteria used: Number of fans on facebook, people who talk about it on facebook, number of followers on Twitter and number of pages viewed on Wikipedia in the last three months.
