9497 Republic Striker-Class Starfighter

The tastes and the colors, that is not discussed ... or rather if, we can discuss it when LEGO abuses a little too much on the mixtures. This set 9497 Republic Striker-Class Starfighter isn't fundamentally bad, it even has some cool features (see this article). But the more I see it, the more I find that the manufacturer should have remained sober to avoid falling into the Christmas tree effect.

I remember the presence of Satele Shan, charismatic female character from The Old Republic saga, the bizarre astromech droid T7-O1 and the courageous Jace Malcom, boss of the Havoc Squad. For the rest, we quickly forget the incongruous storage space of the lightsaber between the two reactors (??) or the ridiculous weapon of Jace Malcom that LEGO could have created in the form of a new mold.

A set on which few fans will rush, but which has the merit as I have already said to bring a little revival in the Star Wars range. It's flashy, a little simplistic, not very well finished, but it's new. So I say yes, but on sale or on sale.

9515 Malevolence

We continue with these few images from of the amazon.fr file of the set 9515 Malevolence. The set combines the advantages: A well detailed ship, full of minifigs, an integrated playset function and a retractable handle system making everything easily transportable. Fans of The Clone Wars will be in for a treat, the younger ones too.

We find here a real playability as is the case with the set 7665 Republic Cruiser from 2007 or 8039 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser released in 2009: Good big ships relatively solid, easy to fly and which allows to have fun. The principle of a toy in fact ...

On the design side, this Malevolence (I can't say Malevolence ...) is pleasing to the eye. Beautiful curves, a color scheme that works well, and a massive side that doesn't displease.

Ah yes, a desire not satisfied all the same, a mini-version of Soulless One de Grievous would have been good in this set. But we can not have everything....

9499 Gungan Sub

More images from the set's product sheet 9499 Gungan Sub at amazon.fr with an mini-sub with harpoon detachable (It's LEGO that says so in the official description) which has nothing to do there ... Looks like LEGO has chosen to add a bit of playability by giving us all kinds of detachable pods / subs / modules in all sets ....

This Bongo hardly attracts me, the mixture of colors is strange, the blue-flashy is ugly and it should have been blue-gray, the rounded sides are full of emptiness, I almost would have preferred two meta-pieces. ..

Looks like someone at LEGO realized how poor it was and decided in desperation to spruce up this set by throwing the ultimate minifig in the box.

But I don't care about this Bongo, what I want is Queen Amidala, and that's why this set enchants me and I'm ready to glorify it anyway ... Long live the Gungan Sub 2012 version.

9471 Uruk-Hai Army

We continue with a stop-motion video review from Artifex for the set 9471 Uruk-Hai Army.

What to admire the magnificent minifigs of this set from all angles, what to realize that the siege engine is a bit picky when it comes to the projection of Tolkienesque missiles, what to see that the sword is fixed up on the saddle of the horse, which is a bit stupid, and finally enough to admire the construction of the wall that can connect to the wall of the set  9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep. What especially to realize that this set is only a very good improved Battle Pack to acquire in multiple copies ...

Enjoy, the video is just below.

9476 The Orc Forge

It's Huw Millington who sticks to it brick set with this first review of the set 9476 The Orc Forge. In summary, a pretty forge with a lot of interesting pieces (serigraphed plates, 18 cheese slopes in Olive Green ...), a light brick, 4 minifigs (instead of the 5 initially planned): Lurtz, two Mordor Orcs and an Uruk-Hai.

The ears of the hairy orcs are slightly different from the ears of the Elf from the collectible minifig series, Lurtz and the Uruk-hai have a double-faced head, both orcs have an imprint on the back and the Saroumane's white hand is screen-printed on the helmets and shields.

A little limited playability with this set which will serve as a complement rather than an ultimate playset, but the minifigs are exceptional and lovers of a little special pieces for their MOCs will find their account there.
